Took a beach trip to Longboat and Ana Maria Island over the 4th of July weekend (photos to hopefully follow) and I made all of the kids these awesome beach bags (out of Amanda Soule's book Handmade Home). They really turned out awesome and they were super fun and easy to make. They are made out of window screening which I bought at Home Depot (a whole roll cost me $5) then the rest of the stuff is all out of my fabric and ribbon stash!! The names I put on with Zane's (and mine too!) alphabet stamp set (Melissa & Doug) and the same fabric paint that I previously used on Zane's stenciled shirts. It worked great and they really are cute little treasure bags. Would be great for beach goers or forest hikers alike. Just somewhere to stash your treasures and all the dirt and sand just falls away. I even took Zane's shells and then just dipped the bag in the ocean and all the sand just washed away. Awesome feeling when you put your work to the test!!

ReplyDeleteThese are great!!! I saw them in the book too...so glad to see you had the motivation to make them and show me how awesome they are. Never thought about dunking them too for that final rinse, so great!!

ReplyDeleteThose bags are incredible and I would love to see pictures of the trip.
ReplyDeleteHi Danielle! It's Sara's friend, Angie:) I love these bags and would like to make one for Sophia. Did you use all purpose thread and just run the screen through your sewing machine? Thank you!
